About Us
My name is Candice Matthis CD(DONA), and I believe that every woman should have an amazing birth experience!
My family and I moved to Christiansburg a little over two years ago when my husband, Lee, began his Chiropractic career. We love this community and area~ it is an amazing place to raise a family! We have two sons, Evan who was born in November 2002 and Garrett who was born in January 2005. We also have a daughter, Ella, who was born in June 2007. I also feel very blessed to have the opportunity to pursue my passion for being a doula and still be a full-time Mom!
I am committed to helping each woman obtain her goal in having an educated, empowered, and fulfilling birth experience. I truly believe that each woman deserves to have the birth experience that she desires. Having three children of my own, I know how powerful and amazing this experience is!
I received my Birth Doula certification through DONA in November 2010.
My name is Shalene Massie. I began to hear my call to birth work when
I became pregnant with my daughter Abigail in 2008. I met a doula and
hired her to assist in my birth. As I was pregnant, I thought about
the women I met living in South Sudan. I reflected upon the many
women who give birth in Africa without the option of medicine or the
care of a doctor. I am amazed by their primordial, instinctual,
knowing and awareness of their bodies, moment to moment. I am inspired by
the innocence, strength, and trust many women in Africa embody.
I recieved amazing support from my doula and my husband in
my birth. Through their support and trusting in the Lord's design of
my body, my experience was beautiful and empowering. I truly felt like
a strong warrior in each moment. This experience awakened my initial
desire to support women in their pregnancy, labor, and birth.
I believe birth glorifies God and every woman deserves to have a doula
for her birth. It is my passion and honor to pray for you and support
you to have an empowering birth!
I am training as a Birthing From Within Mentor (Child Birth Educator)
and Birth Doula.
